Our Dental Implant Treatment Process

Dental implants have been used since the 1950’s, however, today’s dental implants are far better.

What to expect with dental implant treatment

Dental implant treatments waterloo generally do not take more than about 45 minutes per tooth; unless, there is an issue such as needing a bone graft.

The first thing that will be done is x-rays.  This will be followed by getting a complete medical history from you. That includes all medications and supplements with the doses that you are currently taking,

Often you will be given antibiotics and pain meds to take prior to the treatment.

When you arrive you will be given an anesthetic agent such as Novocain and/or oral sedation.

Once the numbing agent has taken effect, the dentist will make a small incision on your gum. This is where he will insert the metal implant.

The use of special tools enables him to make a socket to place the titanium post in.

In order to close the incision in the gums, the dentist will stitch it back. This also helps hold the post secure. You will have to wait two to four months in order for the wound to heal.

Follow up visits to the dentist is necessary. This is to make sure that everything is healing properly. Regular dental check-ups also make sure that your gum is ready for the teeth replacement.

Once the entire dental implant treatment is finished then you simply brush the implant while you brush your other teeth.
