Dental Sedation Safe for Kids

Posted in Sedation Dentistry

If your child has a fear or is highly anxious when it comes to dentist appointments Waterloo sedation dentistry for kids can help alleviate those fears and anxieties.

How sedation dentistry works

Sedation can be given either orally or inhaled.

Nitrous Oxide is inhaled (also known as laughing gas) and midazolam is a liquid and swallowed.

During the sedation, your child’s blood oxygen level, blood pressure, temperature, and heart rate will be closely monitored.

Before your child can have sedation a complete medical history will be taken, including any medications or supplements your child is currently on, as well as any allergies.

You will be given a list and it will be gone over with for pre-sedation and post-sedation preparation to ensure that your child will not have any adverse effects from the sedation.

Advantages of sedation dentistry

Not only does sedation dentistry relieve the child’s fear and anxiety, it allows the dentist to complete the work safely.
