A Good Alternative to Regular Flossing

Do You hate flossing?  Maybe your gums bleed every time you floss? If you are looking for a good alternative to flossing, try the Waterpik Water Flosser by Waterpik Oral Health. One unit can support the whole families flossing needs. It sits on your countertop and holds up to 22 oz. of water (Waterpik Ultra Model).  That gives you approximately 90 seconds of flossing time.  The company suggests a little mouth wash can be added to the water for a really fresh experience.  A nice idea!  The water flosser is an easier and more gentle way to floss and can be more effective in reaching areas under the gum line.

It works with a combination of pressure and pulsation to “deeply clean” between and around your teeth. The Waterpik Canada website says the flosser is clinically proven to “remove 99.9% of plaque from treated areas and is up to 50% more effective than string floss for improving gum health.”

Accessories and Cost

The water flossers come in many different models and have a plethora of accessories including brushes and different ergonomic tips to suit any sized mouth.  They even have a travel sized flosser called the Nano that is also good for small bathrooms. It still holds 15oz. in its reservoir.  Cordless and whitening flossers are also available.  The most expensive model on their site is $159 and the kid’s version is only $59. But if you are a Costco member you can get both the Ultra and the Nano for $84.99!

Erbsville Dental Review

Dr. Stephen Mathews endorses the Waterpik especially as an excellent alternative to regular flossing. More than brushing is required, if you only brush you are missing a large percentage of surface area and are likely to develop dental issues.
